Greenwich House Pottery Masters Series Surface design Workshop

I completed a workshop 8/1 -3 this weekend with an amazing potter/artist Kristen Kieffer. The moment I saw her work I was stunned by it's beauty and when I discovered she was giving this workshop I had to go. She starts most of her forms throwing on the electric wheel, then alters through stamps, coaxing the clay and/or darting. She uses multiple techniques to embellish the pots that create subtle and startling decorative surfaces. Her glazes are simple one color but both matte and glossy. They break over raised decorations and pool in stamped designs creating the appearance of more complicated glazing. I think she is neat!
