With Halloween and cold weather upon us I had to make some stuff

Here is the beginnings of Fiona's coat.

 

 

 

And what beagn as a "CUPCAKE PRINCESS" has simply become "a princess".

 

 

Try convincing Miss Fiona that she needs a headdress. She is refusing to wear any coats or sweaters despite the 40 degree tempertures. " I like the cold", she claims.

My dear friend April 

invited me to an art opening of her friend Christophe

He takes photographs , color separates them, then makes stencils sometimes over fifteen and then layers them using spray paint. Pretty awesome stuff.

Then April's old friend showed up from Tin Pan Alley.

She makes art too.

In 1981 my mother worked in the kitchen at Tin Pan alley and I washed dishes and ran errands. I was 13.

Most Exciting

 

 

 

I have been working on this dress for Fiona in bits n pieces. It is almost done. I just need to hem the sleeves and skirt and  add three more buttons.

It's great to be a child. And to have one too!

This weekend Fiona and I attended the 7th birthday party of her "BIG KID" friend Dimitri. The festivities were at Puppetworks. It was great, magical and inspiring. I may quit my day job and become a puppeteer!

I wanted to added a graphic to the top of my page. This is from a mural in Hell's KItchen , where I am from, and I just added "Franny Fresh Design", "handcrafted from".

 

A Dress, well on Fiona it is a smock.

I have been working on this dress in bits and pieces over the last two weeks. I find I get things done when I have to and I guess I really didn't have to finish this until this weekend.

By the way I spent $18 on this haircut!?!?!?! Nice Bangs?!?!?!?!?! I could have done a better job myself.

So excited!

I have turned on to the online sewing community. In the last month I have purchased multiple sewing patterns for Fiona clothes , which included vintage coats.

THe fabric is a cotton velvet for a coat and the yarn is for a hooded scarf. PIctures to follow in future posts.

The most exciting of all is Sugar City Journal 's Village Frock!

The two fabrics in the background were purchased specifically for this pattern. I can't wait!

Finding Magic and Fantasy in Life

Just a moment ago I saw a wizard on one of the shows my daughter, Fiona watches and it occurred to me all the fantastic images I have captured. So I thought I would share the magic.

Mining Design

Last week I spent a couple of hours in Central Park, sourcing formal park/garden settings for a design at work. I made a stop at Bethesda Fountain. You may remember this from the movie HAIR , which is currently performing at the Public Theatre  near Belvedere Castle . Both this spot in Central Park and the movie hold a special place in my heart.
